Pending Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for a Portion of Pilgrim Creek
City of Oceanside has submitted documents to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); this submittal requests a Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) revision for a portion of Pilgrim Creek’s flood hazard area. The proposed revision, if approved by FEMA, will reduce this area’s overall flood hazard zone. A reduction in the flood hazard area may reduce the number of property owners who are required to purchase flood insurance.
The following FIRMs depict the existing FEMA flood hazard area, as currently enforced:
The following exhibits are from the City’s recent submittal, which depict a modified flood hazard area.
If the proposed LOMR is approved by FEMA, the respective FIRMs will be revised. A revision to these FIRMs may enable benefiting property owners to be relieved of flood insurance requirements. Please note that the requirement for flood insurance remains at the discretion of the financial lender.
