Fire Chief Darryl Hebert Becomes Permanent

The City of Oceanside has selected Interim Fire Chief Darryl Hebert to lead the Oceanside Fire Department on a permanent basis.

At 45 years old, Chief Hebert has served for 20 years at every rank in the department from firefighter/paramedic to fire chief.  His appointment marks the first time in almost as much time, since Fire Chief Jim Rankin retired in 1992, that a permanent fire chief was chosen from inside the department.  And much like his career OFD predecessors, Chief Hebert plans to finish his tenure as Oceanside's fire chief.

The OFD is optimistic about the department’s future under Chief Hebert, He is well-liked and respected by citizens, city officials, and Oceanside’s firefighters.

Congrats Chief!
