What's Going On?

The Oceanside Public Library offers families a variety of fun, educational and free activities including storytimes, after-school activities and special events.

Storytimes

Storytimes are designed to develop early literacy skills and inspire a love of reading. Children will delight in storytelling, fingerplays, music and making crafts. Storytimes are open and 30 - 45 minutes.

Preschool Storytime
  • For ages 3 - 6.
  • Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. - Civic Center Library
  • Friday, 10:30 a.m. - Mission Branch Library
Cuentos Para Ninos

Traiga sus niños de 2 a 5 años a divertirse y aprender, con cuentos, canciones y actividades especiales.

Baby Storytime

This storytime includes an interactive read aloud, finger plays, nursery rhymes, songs and free play.

  • For ages 0 - 24 months.

Toddler Storytime
  • For ages 2 - 3.
  • Thursday, 10:30 a.m. - Civic Center Library
Family Pajama Storytime

Come dressed in your PJs and bring your favorite stuffed animal!

  • For all children.
  • 1st Monday of the month, 6 p.m. - Civic Center Library
PJ Library Storytime

Share in stories, songs and art at a special storytime open to all put on by Jewish Family Service, Shalom Baby and Israeli Cultural Center.

  • 2nd Friday of the month, 10:30 a.m. - Civic Center Library

Homework Helpers

The library offers free homework help provided by volunteers for students in grades K - 8th.  No registration required.

Wacky Wednesday After-school Crafts

Get creative with fun children’s crafts and check out some good books! For children of all ages.

  • 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of the month, 2:00 p.m. - Civic Center Library
Paws to Read

Read and share books with a Love on a Leash therapy dog and get a free bookmark. For children in grades K - 5th.

Tween Video Games

Play the Wii, make new friends and enjoy some snacks. For ages 8 - 12.

Tween Book Club

Discuss the book, make new friends and enjoy tasty snacks. Sign up and pick up a free copy of the book at the children's desk. For 3rd - 6th graders.

Preschool Storytime - Join us for a fun filled thirty minutes designed to inspire your child as they explore the wonderful world of books and develop early literacy, motor and social skills. Children will delight in listening to stories, singing songs, and participating in finger plays. A creative craft or free play completes the storytimes. For preschool children, ages 3 - 6.
