City Manager Peter Weiss

Peter Weiss became the City Manager of Oceanside in January 2007. He reports directly to the City Council and is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the city, including responsibility for its $130 million annual budget and 1,000 employees.

Peter was hired by the City of Oceanside as an assistant civil engineer in 1986, served as the deputy city engineer from 1992 to 1995 and city engineer from 1995 to 2000 then was named public works director in April 2000.

Peter is an accomplished engineer and leader in Oceanside.  He has been involved in issues such as the development of the Oceanside Boulevard Task Force, talks with the San Diego Chargers about possibly moving the National Football League franchise to Oceanside and the formation of a community coalition on safety to work on gang issues.  Peter was also involved in getting the Army Corps of Engineers to address flooding concerns in the San Luis Rey River's bed and has worked to develop safeguards in the City's finance department.

He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering technology from the University of Pittsburgh and lives in Oceanside with his wife and four children.  He is a former Ironman triathlete and is active in Scouting and youth sports.
