The City of Oceanside is celebrating its 125th year of incorporation on July 3, 2013! A series of special events hosted by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, the City’s Parks & Recreation Division, and the Library, will commemorate this occasion. The events will start off at the Civic Center Plaza on Wednesday, July 3, at 11:00 am.
There will be musical entertainment, speeches, proclamations, and recognition of City, County & State officials. The Boy and Girl Scouts will be distributing carnations as Oceanside was known as the “Carnation City” back in 1888.
Tri-City Medical Center is providing a 125th Anniversary Cake for about 1,000 people. There will be several information booths including the Chamber of Commerce, Oceanside Parks & Recreation, and the Oceanside Library to name a few. The Friends of Oceanside Parks, Friends of Oceanside Library, MainStreet Oceanside, and Visit Oceanside are also sponsors.
Wednesday, July 3 – An official ceremony recognizing the 125th Anniversary of Oceanside’s Incorporation. Ceremony starts at 11:00 am, at the Civic Center Plaza at 300 North Coast Highway.
Wednesday, July 3 – The public is invited to the City of Oceanside's 125th Anniversary Fireworks Show on July 3, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. The fireworks will be deployed just north of the El Corazon Senior Center, located at 3302 Senior Center Drive. Rancho Del Oro Rd. will be closed just north of Oceanside Blvd. at Seagate Way, and just south of Mesa Dr. at Ocean Ranch Blvd. This is the recommended viewing site for the Fireworks. Limited parking will be available in the Ocean Ranch Business Park. No parking will be available at the El Corazon Senior Center.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive any time after 6:00 p.m., park in the nearby lots, bring a beach chair, and walk to the viewing area on Rancho Del Oro Rd. Food trucks will be parked on Rancho Del Oro Rd. and will be selling a wide variety of foods. From 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. El Camino High School and Oceanside High School Bands will unite to perform just prior to the Fireworks Show. Fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. Please carpool, as parking is limited. North County Transit buses will be slightly re-routed. Contact NCTD for details. The Sprinter will not be running any late trains. Parking regulations will be in effect for all streets around the perimeter of El Corazon. The El Corazon Senior Center will be closed to the public, as it is the Command Post for the Fireworks Event.
Saturday, June 29 – MainStreet Oceanside will host the Annual Freedom Days Parade from 10:00 am – 12 noon. It will be held on Coast Highway from Oceanside Blvd. to Civic Center Drive. The theme is: “Oceanside – Past, Present & Future”. Come out & support this great event!!
Saturday, June 29 – A free concert will be held at the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater at 5:30 pm featuring the First Marine Division Band.
Saturday, June 29 – Movie at the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater at 8:00 pm. The movie will be the cheerleader classic “Bring It On” which was filmed in Oceanside.
Thursday, July 4 – A SPECIAL “STAR SPANGLED SUNSET MARKET” will be held on Coast Highway/Pier View (usual Sunset Market venue) from 2:00 – 9:00 pm. Free parking in the Civic Center Parking Garage. For more info call (760) 754-4512.
