Oceanside Parks & Recreation Division classes provide diversified programming that develops new interests or fosters further development of a specific skill or training. Our quality programs provide a variety of benefits and encourage lifelong learning.

Class Calendar

Class sessions are offered in six or twelve week formats

Winter 2018

January 9-March 31 (12 weeks)

Session I- January 9-February 18 (6 weeks)

Session II- February 20-March 31 (6 weeks)

April 2-June 23

Session I- April 2-May 12

Session II- May 14-June 23

*No class May 28

Summer 2018

June 25- September 15

Session I- June 25-August 4

Session II- August 6-September 15

* No class July 4th or September 3rd

Fall 2018

September 17-December 15

Session I- September 17-October 27

Session II- October 29-December 15

* No classes November 19-November 24


The Parks and Recreation Division accepts new proposals on an ongoing basis. Proposals are reviewed in the order in which they are received and are reviewed based on the following criteria: Community interest, current trends, facility availability, division goals, quality, instructor experience.

New Instructor Requirements

Individuals interested in applying to teach with Parks and Recreation must first complete the Contract Instructor Application. For an applicant to be considered, the proposal Application must include, minimum:

Fees to be charged to participant including material fees, if applicable
List of preferred days/times/locations

Qualified applicants will possess a current Oceanside Business License and Liability Insurance. A background check is required and will be conducted by the City of Oceanside prior to teaching.
