Filming in Oceanside

Thank you for considering the City of Oceanside for your film or photography production. The City of Oceanside encourages film productions and will try to accommodate most productions needs when possible.

Permit Policy

A Film Permit is required:

  • When filming still or action on any city property to include city parks, beaches, harbor, and city facilities.
  • When utilizing city streets or alleys (i.e., street closures, lane closures, or requiring intermittent traffic control).

Permit Process

Film Permit applications  (174.3 KB) are required for all motion picture, video, and photography productions. Filming of Special Events may be handled through a Special Events permit. Film Permit Applications must be submitted a minimum of seven working days prior to the date of production. Requests made less than seven days prior may be considered and will be subject to the availability of City facilities and staffing.

Fees

A $175 nonrefundable processing fee is required for applications received seven working days or more prior to the date of production. A $262 nonrefundable processing fee will be charged for applications received four to seven working days prior to production. A nonrefundable urgency permit fee of $875 will be charged for applications received three working days or less prior to production. A cancellation fee of $250 will be charged for productions that give the Special Events Office less than seventy-two hour notice that the production will be cancelled. All film permits will be charged a per day fee of $87.
