North County Model Railroad Society

Welcome Model Trains! The North County Model Railroad Society (NCMRS) invites you to visit them in their new home at Oceanside's historic Heritage Park, located at 220 Peyri Drive, adjacent to the Mission San Luis Rey. NCMRS members will spend several months building out their extensive rail system, but you can visit a small version, on display now, each Saturday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.  For more information contact Parks and Recreation at 760-435-5041 or visit www.ncmrs.org.


Movie at the Pier
The Lego Movie

Parks and Recreation presents "The Lego Movie" Saturday, August 30, at the Pier Amphitheater located south of the Beach Recreation Center and Oceanside Pier. Come and see this 2014 computer animated adventure comedy film based mainly on the Lego line of construction toys.  The film tells the story of an ordinary Lego mini figure named Emmet prophesied to save the Lego universe from the tyrannical Lord Business, who plans to use the kragle to glue everything in place. Movie starts at dark, come early and set up your own "Movie Theater". This is a FREE, family friendly event. Free parking is located at the lots off Mission Ave., across from Harney Sushi & Dairy Queen.

The Goonies

Parks and Recreation presents "The Goonies" Saturday, October 11, at the Pier Amphitheater located south of the Beach Recreation Center and Oceanside Pier. Come and see this 1985 American adventure-comedy about a band of pre-teens who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempting to save their homes from demolition, and in doing so, discover an old Spanish map that leads them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willie, a legendary 17th century pirate. Movie starts at dark, come early and set up your own "Movie Theater". This is a FREE, family friendly event. Heritage Park Festival

The City of Oceanside and the "Friends of Oceanside Parks" will hold the Annual Heritage Park Fall Festival on Saturday, November 8th from 12pm to 4pm at Heritage Park, located at 220 Peyri Road. This annual family-friendly event raises funds for "Friends of Oceanside Parks", a non-profit organization founded to help support family-focused recreational opportunities in Oceanside. This event is FREE to the public

Veterans Club

Come hear Master Chief (ret.) Bob Wolfgram, Oceanside resident and Midway Museum volunteer, speak on the USS Midway Museum and the history of this great ship. Event is FREE and open to all ages.

Bike Traffic Skills

The City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Division and the San Diego Bicycle Coalition invite you to learn skills to be a safer cyclist in Oceanside. All classes are held at the Oceanside Library Community Rooms, 300 North Coast Highway, Oceanside, CA 92054, and will be held throughout 2014. Classes run from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The course is free, but pre-registration is required. To register, visit www.sdcbc.org or call San Diego County Bicycle Coalition at 858-472-6025. There is also an on-line course at www.bikeed.org
