The Patrol Division is the largest division in the Department. There are currently 113 officers and 13 field evidence technicians assigned to Patrol, which provides law enforcement services 24/7, 365 days a year. Patrol officers use a combination of traditional techniques as well as new and innovative strategies to combat crime, reduce the fear of crime and help solve community issues.
The City is divided into four sectors and ten beats. Officers are assigned to a beat for one year at a time. This allows officers and community members to become familiar with each other and builds trust enabling a better working relationship to remedy problems plaguing an area.
Patrol officers are responsible for handling radio calls, taking crime reports, traffic enforcement, making arrests, resolving disputes and preventing crime.
Field Evidence Technicians are responsible for processing crime scenes, collecting evidence and taking “cold” crime reports.
