Recent developments in the Nonu and Hernandez homicide investigations have prompted police to again ask for the public's assistance in providing any witness information that could help police solve these tragic murders.
On Saturday May 21, 2011 at approximately 4:50 a.m. 22-year-old Justin Nonu was shot and killed in the 1700 block of Kraft Street by an unknown suspect on foot. The suspect is still outstanding. The victim, Justin Nonu, and four other men were in a driveway in the 1700 block of Kraft Street when an unknown suspect(s) started shooting at them from across the street. Nonu and one other man were struck by the gunfire. The suspect, described as male wearing dark clothing, fled on foot westbound on Kraft Street. Nonu was pronounced dead on scene.
On July 9, 2011 at 2:07 a.m. Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Bush Street to investigate the report of gunshots that were heard in the area. Police found the 17-year-old victim lying on the ground near the Balderama Park tennis courts. A witness reported the shots came from a white sedan traveling eastbound in the 1400 block of Bush Street. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on San Diego Street.
