Library Workshops for Oceanside's Small Businesses

December 30, 2011

As the city sees increasing numbers of small businesses opening and expanding, Oceanside librarians find their services being sought more often by small business owners.  The Library is seeking ways to fulfill the information needs of these businesses.  To that end, Oceanside Public Library will offer two free workshops to help small business owners in January.  Both will be held in the Foundation Room, 2nd floor, Civic Center Library, 330 North Coast Highway, downtown Oceanside.

On Saturday, January 14, at 10:00 a.m., expert Maureen Thielen will provide an overview of QuickBooks, as well as hands-on training in use of this prevalent bookkeeping software among small businesses. On Saturday, January 28, at 10:30 a.m., librarian Margaret Taylor will guide users through "A to Z Databases," a powerful marketing research tool offered by the Library.

Both presenters have extensive experience assisting hundreds of small business owners with their questions and research. Thielen is a certified QuickBooks and Point of Sale “ProAdvisor.” Taylor, with a Master's in Library and Information Science, co-managed both a “Services for Small Businesses” grant and the Library’s resources for small business owners.  Both workshops are sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library. Visit the Library at www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call (760) 435-5600 for more information.
