| | | Free Tax Preparation Event for Oceanside FamiliesLibrary to Offer Free Services to Lower-Income TaxpayersJanuary 31, 2012 Free tax preparation services will be available to lower-income Oceanside residents on February 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Oceanside Public Library's Civic Center Library location, 330 N Coast Hwy. Taxpayers will have the opportunity to prepare and file their own taxes, with the help of volunteers, using TurboTax® Freedom Edition software, which helps people identify and claim all of the tax credits and deductions they deserve. Taxpayers are eligible to prepare and file their taxes for free at this event if they had an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $31,000 or less in 2011, are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit or were on active military duty and earned $57,000 or less AGI.
"The Oceanside Public Library is delighted to partner with the Communications & Computer Industry Association in hosting this free tax preparation assistance event for the community," said Brad Penner, Library Division Manager. "In these tough times, everyone can use a larger refund, so we strongly encourage people to take advantage of the free tax services offered at this event. We’re glad to contribute to in any way we can to the ongoing local efforts to provide tax help such as that offered by AARP at Oceanside Senior Centers or by North County Lifeline." The event is part of a statewide tour sponsored by the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) and the Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation. Thanks to committed Intuit employee volunteers, Saturday’s event is expected to serve more than 70 people. Interested taxpayers are encouraged to call 1-866-577-1231 to learn more about this event or make an appointment.
