| | | Free Home-Generated Sharps Disposal Drop-Off CentersJanuary 31, 2012 Starting January 30, 2012, Oceanside residents will be able to conveniently and responsibly dispose of needles, lancets, and other home-generated sharps at no cost at two new drop-off locations, the El Corazon and Country Club Senior Centers. Oceanside residents are encouraged to utilize these new free services to ensure home-generated sharps are properly disposed of and helping to keep our sanitation service workers safe while further helping our City meet state mandates which prohibit the disposal of these materials into our waste stream. A safe sharps disposal kiosk will be conveniently located inside the facilities listed below.

Home-generated sharps waste includes hypodermic needles, pen needles, intravenous needles, lancets, and other devices that are used to penetrate the skin for the delivery of medications derived from a household, including a multifamily residence or household. The sharps must be placed in a securely sealed rigid container before placing into the drop off box.
This free drop-off program is limited to Oceanside residents only. No businesses or non-Oceanside resident may use this program. Residents can also continue to utilize the free drop-off container provided at the Waste Management Buyback Center located at 2880 Industry Street, Tuesday through Friday, from 8am to 4pm.
Sharps Mail Back Program
Residents can also dispose of sharps easily from their own home through Waste Management's MedWaste Tracker mail-back program. Each MedWaste Tracker System contains: sharps container(s) or medical waste container; postal authorized return system with prepaid postage return. Visit www.medwaste.wm.com for details and pricing.
