Homicide Suspect Arrested

On March 14, 2012, Oceanside Police arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile in connection with the homicide that occurred on March 11, 2012. The juvenile suspect is currently being held in the San Diego Juvenile Detention Facility on robbery charges with a gang allegation. These charges stem from an incident that occurred just prior to the homicide. The suspect will be formally charged for the murder of Antonio Carachuri-Perez during his arraignment tomorrow.

On March 11, 2012 at approximately 0158 hrs, Oceanside Police responded to the 400 block of Grant St regarding a report of shots fired with a person down. Police found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound. The victim was treated at the scene and then air lifted to Scripps Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

The robbery occurred on March 11, 2012 in the 200 block of South Weitzel in Oceanside just minutes prior to the homicide. The juvenile victim was robbed of jewelry and electronics at gunpoint. The victim was not injured during the incident.
