| | | Water Utilities Department Cautions Against MisrepresentationsMarch 26, 2012 Several incidents have been reported by Oceanside customers describing private companies that are misrepresenting the City's water quality in order to sell water-treatment devices. Please be aware that the City does not send representatives door to door to solicit residents or businesses to buy individual water-treatment devices.
Water delivered to Oceanside homes and businesses meets or exceeds all state and federal water quality standards for drinking water. Water is routinely tested for over 90 different substances, including those described by vendors trying to sell treatment devices. Water served by the City of Oceanside meets all standards and is of the highest quality. Information about the City’s water quality can be found in the annual Consumer Confidence Report which can be found on the City’s website at http://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us.
Be cautious when dealing with salespersons and allowing strangers into your home. Water Utilities field personnel wear uniforms bearing the City logo and carry City-issued identification cards. Should you be concerned about the identity of Water Utilities staff please call the Oceanside Water Utilities Department at (760) 435-4500. Water Utilities staff are dispatched at the request of our customers to discuss water quality-related issues; they do not go door to door.
Should you become aware of suspicious activity or persons representing themselves falsely as City employees, please contact the Oceanside Police Department at (760) 435-4900.
