Oceanside Airport History Program at Library
March 29, 2012
The Oceanside Historical Society will be doing a presentation on the history of Oceanside's Airport on April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oceanside Public Library’s Civic Center Library Community Rooms located at 330 N. Coast Highway. The presentation will include photo remembrances of the days of the Hi Hi Sky Ranch Airport. Ken Nill came to Oceanside in the mid-1940s and bought property for his airport and sparked growth south of what would become Oceanside Boulevard, which at that time was a dirt road. The Hi Hi Sky Airport, which had taken its name from the Hi Hi Sky Ranch for Boys, a ranch that was established in the 1930s, ran from the mid 1940s to the mid 1950s. Ken Nill’s daughter, Susan Franklin, will have his photo collection on display.
