Police Seek Public’s Assistance Identifying Possible Suspect in a Lewd Act Case

Police are asking for the public's assistance to identify a man who was reportedly committing a lewd act in the presence of children on April 4, 2012 at an apartment complex located at 330 Isthmus Way in Oceanside. A photo of the possible suspect is attached to this press release. The still photo came from a video that was taken by a witness at the time of the incident.
On April 4, 2012 at approximately 5:50 p.m., Police were dispatched to the Avalon Apartments located at 330 Isthmus Way to investigate the report of a man committing a lewd act in public. The suspect, who was seen standing near an outside staircase, was reportedly committing the lewd act while looking in the direction of children playing across the street. The suspect was gone when police arrived. Police are hoping someone will recognize the man from the photo and report his identity to detectives. The suspect is not wanted at this time. Police will request an arrest warrant when he is identified. This is currently a misdemeanor case, but Police have given this case priority because of the nature of this reported offense, and the potential for this type of behavior to escalate.
