Maintenance Work Planned on State Route 78 This Weekend

Westbound State Route 78 will be closed this Saturday night, April 21, and possibly Sunday night, April 22, between College Boulevard and El Camino Real to replace a drainage pipe, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

This portion of freeway will be closed from 11 p.m. on Saturday night to 9 a.m. on Sunday morning.  If needed, the same section of freeway will close Sunday at 11 p.m. and re-open no later than 4 a.m. Monday morning.  Traffic will be detoured off the freeway at College Boulevard to parallel westbound Vista Way and back onto SR-78 at El Camino Real.  The traffic signal timing at the end of the westbound College Boulevard off-ramp and Vista Way will be temporarily changed to give the maximum green to vehicles using the off-ramp.

Motorists may expect delays and are asked to observe reduced speeds through construction areas.  They are also asked to move over a lane when possible if they see a highway work truck or emergency vehicle with flashing lights on the shoulder.
