Scott Gates and the Salty Suites in Free Concert at the Library

April 26, 2012

The Oceanside Public Library and the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are proud to present the bluegrass music of Scott Gates and The Salty Suites as part of the 2012 World Music Series.  This free concert will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms located at 330 N. Coast Highway.  Performance time will be 3:00 p.m.  Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking garage.

Scott Gates is as close to a musical prodigy on the mandolin as you will ever meet and now plays guitar with the same fire and brilliance. Having performed all over the country and with artists as varied as John McEuen, Nathan McEuen, Kenny Loggins, Steve Martin and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and a virtual "who's who" of the bluegrass world, Scott is writing music on his own and is bringing many of these tunes to you.

Equally talented are the members of Scott's band, The Salty Suites.  Chuck Hailes, one of the top bass players in the country, is schooled in classical and jazz bass playing and techniques. With his background in bluegrass music and degree in the Upright Bass, Chuck sings and plays in a way that is uniquely his own.

Chelsea Williams has been writing and performing her own music since she was 13 years old. While some of her early songs are still hits with her fans, she has continued to develop as a writer penning nearly 100 original songs to date.

Doors for this performance open at 2:30 p.m. and it is open seating. This free concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.
