Police Investigate Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred today in the 200 block of South Weitzel Street. The 27-year-old male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The injuries are not life threatening. The suspect(s) is still outstanding.

Today at approximately 1:25 p.m. Police were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Weitzel Street to investigate the report of gunshots heard in the area. Police located the gunshot victim in the 200 block of S. Weitzel. The victim was subsequently transported by air ambulance to a trauma center where he is expected to recover from his injuries. The victim was reportedly in the 200 block of S. Weitzel when he was shot by an unidentified suspect(s). Details of the shooting and suspect(s) information are not available at this time. The investigation is ongoing. The identity of the victim has not been released. At this point, a determination has not been made regarding the motive for the crime.
