Emmy-Winning Film at Oceanside Library

Thinking Grande, an Emmy Award-winning film, will be shown by the Oceanside Public Library on Saturday, June 2, at 2:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms, 330 N. Coast Highway, in downtown Oceanside.  Filmmaker and producer Kevin Bender will be on hand to discuss the film and to provide an update about the 26-minute documentary's main character, Jose Luis Bonilla.

The film documents the passion and persistence Bonilla brought with him from Zacatecas, Mexico to California. Bonilla worked twenty years to achieve his vision of a "Mexican Disneyland" in rural Santa Barbara County, in the heart of California, only to have the County shut it down. The film tells what happened when one former dishwasher put his mind, heart and soul to work fulfilling his version of the American Dream.
