July is National Parks and Recreation Month
June 12, 2012
Join Oceanside Parks & Recreation in celebrating the benefits that recreation provide in our everyday lives. Since 1985, the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) has encouraged cities across America to celebrate July as the Nation's "official" Parks and Recreation Month. The goal of this month-long celebration of leisure and recreational opportunities is to raise awareness of the vital impact that parks, recreation, and conservation have on communities across the U.S. This year's theme is “GET WILD”. Oceanside residents are encouraged to join the national efforts to “GET WILD” and show how Parks and Recreation make lives better by attending the FREE concert on July 20 with the headlining band “TODO MUNDO” taking the stage at 6:00 p.m. at Rancho Del Oro Park.
On June 27, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. the Oceanside City Council will proclaim the month of July as National Recreation and Parks Month at a regularly scheduled City Council meeting held in the Council Chambers at 300 North Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside. For more information regarding National Recreation and Parks Month or the free Concert in the Park event please contact Parks and Recreation at 760-435-5041 or visit us on the Web at www.oceansiderec.com.
