Free Concert at Library to Kickoff Library Card Sign-Up Month
August 14, 2012
The Oceanside Public Library and the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are proud to present the blues music of Patrick Ellis and The BlueFrog Band to kick-off National Library Card Sign-Up Month. This free concert will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012, in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms located at 330 N. Coast Highway. Performance time will be 2:00 p.m. Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking garage.
Patrick "BlueFrog" Ellis and the BlueFrog Band combine the Blues Harmonica influences of Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, Kim Wilson, Sonny Boy Williams, and Rod Piazza, with the guitar and keyboard styles of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Allman Brothers, the Doors, and Lynrd Skynrd, along with their own original music. Why BlueFrog? The name comes from a nickname Ellis received in Germany as a Navy Diver who played Rock and Blues music at local clubs. The band has toured with the USO, and has performed on NBC's Good Morning Show. Doors for this free performance open at 1:30 p.m. and it is open seating.
The BlueFrog Band will be kicking off Library Card Sign-Up Month at the Oceanside Public Library. During the month of September, the Library will be launching a new program called “Reading Rewards You.” The Library is partnering with local businesses who will be offering a discount to customers who show their Oceanside Public Library Card throughout the month.
