Energy Efficient Home Tours in Oceanside
November 6, 2012
Oceanside residents can visit an energy-efficient home in Oceanside that demonstrates the benefits of installing home energy upgrades on Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 3196 Carr Drive.
The free home tour is sponsored by the California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE), to promote the statewide Energy Upgrade California™ program. Visitors can tour the home and meet the owner to hear about the advantages of installing upgrades. Energy efficiency experts will conduct the tours, and be available to answer questions.
The Energy Upgrade California program involves a "whole house" approach to test, diagnose, and fix health and safety issues, deficiencies in building leakage, insulation, heating and air conditioning systems, water heaters, appliances, and lighting that waste energy. The program provides rebates to help pay for the upgrades.
“The home tour is the best way for homeowners to see for themselves the types of energy efficiency measures that can be installed in their homes,” Bob Coleman, CCSE's demonstration home program manager said. The first 25 homeowners that attend the open house will receive a complimentary energy efficiency device, so they can start saving energy right away.
At the featured home, upgrades include attic sealing and insulation, new insulated ducts, new furnace and venting repairs, dual-pane windows, high-efficient bathroom fans, new air conditioning system, LED lights, ENERGY STAR appliances, and tubular skylights.
