Library Calls for Historic Photos
December 27, 2012
The Oceanside Public Library, in partnership with the Oceanside Historical Society, invites all current and former Oceanside residents to become a part of local history as Oceanside celebrates its 125th Anniversary in 2013. Bring your family photographs and old photos of Oceanside homes, businesses and places. They will be scanned and immediately returned. This preliminary workshop will take place in the Civic Center Community Rooms at 330 North Coast Highway on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. We are interested in hearing your story! Kristi Hawthorne, local author and historian, will also offer tips about preservation of family photographs. Each photo recorded at the library will become part of a larger piece of work of that will be presented in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms during September.
Also at this event, the library will debut its special 125th Anniversary of Oceanside commemorative library card that features a historic photo of the Spencer building that housed Oceanside's first library. All new patrons will receive a free card during the year-long celebration, while current card holders may purchase one for $1.25. For more information, please visit us at www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org, or call (760) 435-5580. All library programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.
