Grant Barrett Event at the Oceanside Library

The Oceanside Public Library is proud to host slang expert and A Way with Words radio personality, Grant Barrett in the Community Rooms at 330 N. Coast Highway at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Learn about how slang words originate and how slang has been used in literature from Shakespeare to present day. Bring your questions, your beefs, your huh’s, your omg’s and your lol’s to this informative and enjoyable program.
Grant is co-host of the language-related public radio show A Way with Words, and is an American lexicographer and dictionary editor specializing in slang and new words. He compiled and edited the Official Dictionary of Unofficial English (2006, McGraw-Hill), and the Oxford Dictionary of American Political Slang (2004, Oxford University Press), and is the creator of the prize-winning online Double-Tongued Dictionary which tracks slang, jargon, and neologisms from the fringes of English.
