Hungrytown Performs Free Concert
Oceanside Public Library April 15, 2013
March 22, 2013
The Oceanside Public Library and the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are proud to present the Americana duo Hungrytown as part of the 2013 World Music Series. This free concert will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013, in the Mission Branch Library Community Room located at 3861-B Mission Avenue. Performance time will be 5:00 p.m.
Hungrytown is the musical and married duo of Ken Anderson and Rebecca Hall. The couple has released two CDs, the self-titled Hungrytown (2008) and Any Forgotten Thing (2011), both of which received high critical acclaim and much airplay in North America, Europe and Australia. Their songs have been performed by many other artists, including Nashville songwriting legend David Olney and bluegrass veterans the Virginia Ramblers. Hungrytown's music has also appeared on several television shows, including the Independent Film Channel's hit series, Portlandia. Mark Pendleton of the Las Cruces Sun News writes “Their music mixes the snow of their home in Vermont, the dew on the grass of a cool summer morning in the Appalachians, the hard-scrabble grittiness and pluck of common folk the world over, together with the melancholy of lost loves, broken hearts, and shattered dreams, distilling it into an intoxicating, hauntingly seductive blend that you always want more of.”
Tickets are free for all ages and are available at the Oceanside Civic Center Library and Mission Branch Library check-out desks. Seating is extremely limited for this performance, so it is strongly recommended that tickets be picked up in advance. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and it is open seating.
