Filipino Cultural Celebration

The colorful sights, sounds and delicious smells of the Philippines will once again fill the Civic Center Plaza in Oceanside. The Filipino-American Cultural Association of North San Diego County, along with the Oceanside Public Library and the Friends of the Library invite you to enjoy a festive day of music, dance, food, and much more at the 12th Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Oceanside Civic Center Library and Plaza at 330 North Coast Highway.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Health & Education: Foundations of Our Nation.” The event will kick-off at 10 a.m., and the schedule is as follows:
10:30 a.m. – Mrs. Senior Fil Am and Mrs. Fil Am Pageants
11:30 a.m. – Talent Showcase “Pinoy’s Got Talent”
12:30 p.m. – Traditional Filipino Costume Show
1:30 p.m. – Fil Am North County S.D. Youth and Adult Cultural Dance Group
2:30 p.m. – Miss Pre-Teen Fil Am and Little Miss Fil Am Pageants, followed by the Scholarship Program Presentation and Youth Development Program
4:00 p.m. - Prize Drawings
Traditional Filipino food such as pancit, lumpia, and adobo, as well as other items, will be available for sale in the plaza area from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Explore the Filipino Arts and Crafts Exhibit, and don’t forget to check out the many books and materials on Filipino culture available at the Library. Children are invited into the courtyard throughout the day for a free craft program, as well as special storytimes. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join in the fun. The Filipino-American Cultural Association of North San Diego County was formed and established in June of 1976. It began as a social gathering of those whose mission was to preserve the Filipino cultural customs and traditions, and is now over 300 members strong.
