Teens Read for a Reason this Summer
June 14, 2013
Teens participating in Oceanside Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will once again Read for a Reason. Each year, the teens pick a charitable organization in Oceanside to support, and for every book read, a donation of $1 is made to that organization. This summer’s Read for a Reason recipient will be the North County Community Services Food Bank. Established in Oceanside in 1988, the food bank provides meals for hungry families across North County. Food barrels will be set-up in the lobbies of both Oceanside Public Library locations for the donation of non-perishable food items. In addition, the Library will be offering “Food for Fines” on June 14, July 12, and August 9. For every canned food item donated, $1 in overdue fines will be waived, up to $10. The Teen Summer Reading Program runs from June 13 to August 3, 2013, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library with generous support from G.G. Greene Enterprises. For more information about the summer reading programs or Read for a Reason, visit the Library’s website at www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call 760-435-5600.
