"Books and Brew" at Library
July 25, 2013
On two Fridays this August, the Oceanside Public Library will host “Books and Brew” programs celebrating one of Oceanside’s treasures, local craft beer. On Friday, August 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., there will be a screening of Crafting America, a documentary showing how craft beer is providing an alternative economy across the United States. On Friday, August 9, at 4:30 p.m., the Library will host a speaker from Bottled and Kegged, an exhibit at San Diego History Center in Balboa Park, celebrating the history of beer in San Diego County. Both programs will be held in the Community Rooms adjacent to the Civic Center Library at 330 North Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside. Free parking is available--enter the garage from behind the Library on Civic Center Drive or from Ditmar Street. Please note, no alcohol will be served.
North County has been a leader in the craft beer industry since before Prohibition, and this continues in the present day, creating a dedicated local audience for these free events, sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library. The programs will educate even the most avid craft beer lover. They are presented as part of “Oceanside Treasures,” the Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program. Stay tuned—another “Books and Brew” event is planned. For more information, please visit the library’s website at www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call (760) 435-5600.
