Local Author Series at the Library
September 3, 2013
The Oceanside Public Library is proud to host local Oceanside authors on three Saturday afternoons in September, all at 1:00 p.m. in the Foundation Room, on the second floor of the Civic Center Library, 330 North Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside. Each is notable for use of unique personal experiences in their writing. Author and ocean voyager Lori Lawson penned the mystery Green Flash on a tiny island off Norway’s west coast, during a trip in which she and her husband transited over two hundred fifty locks on canals from the Netherlands to the Mediterranean. Nicasio Latasa, author of a fictional surf adventure entitled Chasing Mowgli, wrote the book after traveling the globe searching for waves and exploring different walks of life. Samurai descendant Masako Kimura Streling recounts her journey, from her childhood in wartime Japan to her arrival in America as a war bride, in I thought the Sun Was God. Lawson will appear on Saturday, September 14; Latasa will give a sneak peek of his recently completed novel on Saturday, September 21; and Streling will end the series on Saturday, September 28.
