On August 16, 2011at 5:25 p.m. Police were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Boomvang Court to investigate the report of a shooting. Police located two assault victims at the residence; a 74-year-old woman had sustained a gunshot wound to a lower extremity and a 40-year-old man had sustained an injury to the head after being struck ("pistol whipped") with a handgun. The suspect, who is known to the victims, fled in a red Dodge pickup truck. The suspect, a 48-year-old BMA, is still outstanding. The investigation is ongoing; the names of the victims or suspect are not being released at this time. The 40-year-old victim rents a room from the 74-year-old victim.
The suspect, an acquaintance of the 40-year-old victim, reportedly came to the victim's home and an argument started between the two men regarding finances. The 74-year-old female victim went into the garage to avoid the argument. The suspect struck the victim on the head with a handgun during the argument and walked away from the residence. As the suspect walked past the garage he discharged the handgun, striking the female victim in the lower extremity. It’s unclear at this time if the discharge of the weapon was intentional. The suspect fled in the red truck.
Both victims were airlifted to Scripps trauma center. Their injuries are not life threatening.
