Summer Reading Kickoff at the Library

May 19, 2014

The Oceanside Public Library invites families to kick off the annual children’s summer reading program with two special events: On Thursday, June 5, at 2:00 p.m., Mad Science will present “Wild About Science” at the Civic Center Library, 330 North Coast Highway. On Friday, June 6, at 11:00 AM, Bubble Mania & Company will present an interactive bubble show at the Mission Branch Library, 3861-B Mission Avenue. These events are free and for children of all ages. This year’s science theme, titled “Fizz, Boom, READ!” encourages students to keep up both their reading and science skills while on break from school. Children ages 0-12 earn prizes for reading, or being read to, and enjoy free, fun reading- and science-themed activities at the library throughout the summer. The summer reading program helps children maintain or improve their reading levels and fosters a lifelong love of learning and reading. Children can sign up online on the library’s website or in the library starting Thursday, June 5, 2014. For more information, please call (760) 435-5600 or visit the library’s website at www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org.
