Post Date:10/30/2025 8:43 AM

OCEANSIDE, CA — The Oceanside Police Department is proud to announce that enrollment is now open for the upcoming Community Academy, beginning on January 20, 2026.

The Community Academy offers Oceanside residents an exclusive opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of how their police department operates. Designed to strengthen relationships and foster mutual trust between law enforcement and the community, the program provides an interactive, behind-the-scenes experience that highlights the daily work and commitment of OPD officers.

Participants will learn about various aspects of police operations, including patrol procedures, investigations, and specialized units. Through presentations, discussions, and hands-on demonstrations, attendees will gain valuable insight into the challenges and responsibilities of modern policing while engaging directly with the men and women who serve Oceanside.

Classes will take place every Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Oceanside Police Department. The program is open to all Oceanside residents 18 years of age and older. No prior law enforcement experience is required, but a basic background check must be completed prior to participation.

Participation in the Community Academy is free of charge, and space is limited to the first 25 qualified applicants. The deadline to apply is January 17, 2026.
