Oceanside's Special Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. The ballot will contain a 2-part question: Shall Jerome M. Kern be recalled (removed) from the office of Member of the City Council?; and then to select a candidate for Member of the City Council to succeed Jerome M. Kern if the measure is successful. This would be to fill the unexpired term until November 2010.

All Oceanside seats are "at-large," meaning there are no districts within the City. The seats are also nonpartisan.
