Oceanside Unified School District Map
Four school districts serve the Oceanside community area for grades K-12. Oceanside Unified School District, the Vista Unified School District, the Carlsbad Unified School District, and the Bonsall/Fallbrook Unified School District.
Oceanside Unified School District provides education services to 65% of the Oceanside student population. The district has 18,899 students. The district operates 16 elementary, 4 middle, 2 comprehensive high schools, 3 charter schools, and 2 small alternative education programs.
Honors, advanced placement, and gifted and talented programs, as well as school-to-career, regional occupational, and agricultural programs are among many designed to meet students' special needs and abilities.
Every high school student must meet certain exit criteria in order to advance to the next grade. Eighth-graders who do not meet specific criteria must attend their ninth-grade at the Clair Burgener Academy, an intensive, year-long program that focuses on academic skills.
New School Board policies require the teaching of phonics, spelling, grammar, and the memorization of basic math facts and multiplication tables.
The district's elementary instrumental music program consistently generates award-winning performing groups at the high school level.
