Write On, Oceanside! August 29

The public is invited to meet local published authors at “Write On, Oceanside!” Literary Festival at the Civic Center Library Plaza and Courtyard (330 N. Coast Hwy) on Saturday, August 29 from 2 to 6 pm. Authors from a wide variety of genres will be on hand to discuss, sell, and sign their works as well as pose for photographs with fans.

Hear authors give a One-Minute Pitch, explaining why you should read their book. Barnes and Noble Booksellers will be on hand with books about the writing life, and KPBS will promote the One Book, One San Diego selection. Help write the annual Never-Ending Story. Children’s activities will be located in the Courtyard, where special costumed stories and book-related crafts will be presented beginning at 2:30 and continuing throughout the event.

Organizers will continue free workshops in the Community Rooms. Learn what production companies look for in a good screenplay at the “Screenwriter’s Workshop” at 2 pm. Bring questions about your writing project to our panel of authors/experts at 3 pm for “How Do I Know It’s Good?” A special book talk and signing of the recently published Revenge of a Catholic Schoolboy, with author Victor Villaseñor will take place at 4 pm. Villaseñor is a celebrated local author of the bestselling, Pulitzer Prize nominated epic, Rain of Gold. We will conclude the last hour of the event with a prize drawing and announcement of the “Those Four Magic Words” Adult Micro-Fiction Writing Contest and the Children and Teen “Write On, Oceanside!” Book Cover Contest at 5 pm.
Event organizers and supporters from the Oceanside Public Library, Friends of the Oceanside Public Library and Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation are pleased that “Write On, Oceanside!” has become popular with the community’s talented authors.
