The City of Oceanside promotes community cleanup events for residents and visitors throughout the year. Community cleanups are a great and easy way for everyone to get involved in their community, complete community service hours, and help serve as many areas as possible by removing debris, trash and illegally dumped items from City neighborhoods, parks, and beaches. Join us in beautifying Oceanside by participating in any of the below activities:
The City's Quarterly Neighborhood Cleanup events are held in collaboration with Neighborhood Services, Code Enforcement and the Green Oceanside Team FOUR TIMES each year! There are two ways to participate:
Please keep in mind no household hazardous waste will be accepted, but you can always schedule a household hazardous waste drop off appointment with Waste Management at (760) 439-2824
Visit Green Oceanside’s Events Page for a full list of dates, and to see when we will be in YOUR neighborhood!
Help Oceanside's watersheds and waterways stay clean and healthy by participating in one of two Annual Waterway Cleanups! The City of Oceanside hosts two annual volunteer cleanup events in the City's waterways and open space areas, in coordination with I Love a Clean San Diego and the Green Oceanside team. These events include the statewide Creek to Bay Cleanup every April, and Coastal Cleanup Day every September. Both Events are a great way to remove litter and debris close to home in your own neighborhood or in the City's waterways. Volunteers can choose from multiple cleanup locations in the San Luis Rey River, Loma Alta Creek and Buena Vista Creek watersheds at each event! To learn more on how to participate, contact GreenOceanside@oceansideca.org.
Are you interested in organizing your own cleanup event? The City’s Special Events Staff accepts requests for private cleanup events, for 30 or more participants, at available City neighborhoods, parks, and beaches. Three Cleanup Permits are accepted each month and events are processed on a first-come, first served-basis. Applications should be received 60 days prior to the event to provide adequate time for processing, scheduling and coordination. Remember to secure cleanup supplies such as buckets, reusable gloves, and trash pickers in addition to Waste Management disposal services to safely dispose of the waste collected. For more information on how to apply for a Cleanup permit, visit the City’s Special Events Webpage
The City’s Green Oceanside team encourages individuals to “pack in, pack out” and take the initiative and responsibility to keep their own neighborhood, park, or beach clean! You can even go a step further and do a solo cleanup wherever you are. It’s easy– grab some gloves, bags, or buckets to collect debris and sort the items into your carts at home! Don’t forget to share your journey with @Oceanside_Water on Instagram or @CityOceanside on Facebook to inspire others to do the same in their community!
