We hope this website will be informative and useful as you begin planning your special event, filming, or photo shoot. The Special Events Office is a section of Parks and Recreation. The Special Events Office assists the public by coordinating city services related to various events held at City facilities and public properties. The Special Events Office processes special event and film permits for approximately 200 events every year. The events, which range in size from a birthday party to national sporting events, connect our neighborhoods and showcase the best our citizens and city have to offer. We look forward to assisting you with your special event or filming needs.

All Annual Events with one or more of the items listed below are considered Large Scale Events and will be moved to alternative locations, postponed, or canceled.
Events with over 500 people at any one time
Events requiring use of Pacific Street as part of the event venue
Events requiring the use of adjacent parking Lot #30
Events requiring a Traffic Control Plan
Events where the pier is part of the event venue
Events that use the Pier Amphitheater and Beach Recreation Center at the same time
The Special Events division is currently evaluating every event at the Pier Amphitheater and is in the process of contacting all event organizers affected by the moratorium.
