Thank you for considering the City of Oceanside for your film or photography production. The City of Oceanside encourages film productions and will try to accommodate most productions' needs when possible.
A Film Permit is required:
Film permit applications are required for all motion picture, video, and photography productions. Filming of Special Events may be handled through a Special Events permit. Film Permit Applications must be submitted a minimum of seven working days prior to the date of production. Requests made less than seven days prior may be considered and will be subject to the availability of City facilities and staffing.
A $175 nonrefundable processing fee is required for applications received seven working days or more prior to the date of production. A $262 nonrefundable processing fee will be charged for applications received four to seven working days prior to production. A nonrefundable urgency permit fee of $875 will be charged for applications received three working days or less prior to production. A cancellation fee of $250 will be charged for productions that give the Special Events Office less than 72-hour notice that the production will be cancelled. All film permits will be charged a per day fee of $87.
Located within walking distance from the San Luis Rey Mission lies Heritage Park Village and Museum. Heritage Park was created in the 1970's as a permanent and perpetual symbol of Oceanside's heritage. Heritage Park allows historic Oceanside to serve as a background to private parties, weddings, and special events. Ideally situated within Heritage Park lies the gazebo. Special Event Permits are required for any organized activity involving the use of, or having impact upon, public property, public facilities, parks, beaches, sidewalks, street areas or the temporary use of private property in a manner that varies from its current land use. Applications for permits must be filed with the City of Oceanside, at City Hall East, not less than sixty (60) nor more than three hundred sixty-five (365) days prior to the proposed activity date. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Dates will not be held without receiving an application and the $150 processing fee. Only one date per application unless the event is consecutive days.
Special Operations Permit is required for professional and commercial use on public property. Commercial Operations include but not limited to: boot camps, surf camps, private surf instruction, fitness classes, day classes, yoga classes, nature camps, or other similar activities. To obtain a Special Operations Permit a current City of Oceanside Businesses License, Liability Insurance of $2 million- $4 million Aggregate listing the City of additionally insured and participant waiver that indemnifies and hold harmless the City of Oceanside must be obtained. A Special Operations Permit Application must be submitted with $175 nonrefundable application fee. All applications will be reviewed by staff and determined the feasibility of the proposed activity potentially impacts to parking, other previously scheduled activity, field use, group size, time of day, day or days of the week, and location.
The Strand Gazebo is an ideal place for weddings, family outings, birthday parties or any type of group gatherings that have 100 people or less. The Strand Gazebo has the majestic Pacific Ocean and the famous Oceanside Pier as backdrops for your event. The Strand Gazebo may be reserved year round with the exception of Holiday Weekends. The Strand Gazebo is not available on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Parking is not included in the rental and alcohol is prohibited. The facility does have access to electricity for a small fee.
