George Darrah


Lieutenant Darrah was born and raised in Upstate New York and first came to Oceanside in 1984 while serving as an active duty Marine aboard Camp Pendleton. Lieutenant Darrah attended the 54th Regional Police Academy in 2002 and began his career as a Police Officer with the City of Oceanside in 2003. Prior to joining the Oceanside Police Department, Lieutenant Darrah obtained his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and his Master’s in Human Resource Management from National University.

Lieutenant Darrah has held a variety of assignments throughout his career, including being a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team and Resource Team. In 2006, he was selected to be a Detective in the Investigations Division. While working as a Detective, Lieutenant Darrah was assigned to the Property Crimes Unit, Family Protection Unit, and Robbery Homicide Unit.

In 2011 Lieutenant Darrah was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to serve as a field supervisor in the Field Operations Division. In 2012 he was selected to supervise the Gang Suppression Unit. In 2013 Lieutenant Darrah was promoted to his current rank and assigned as a Watch Commander in the Field Operations Division. He is currently assigned to the Special Enforcement Section where he oversees the Gangs, Narcotics, Vice, and Gang Suppression Unit.
