File a Crime Report

There are several ways for citizens to file a crime report with the Oceanside Police Department. Each process has been outlined for your convenience. If this is an emergency please dial 9-1-1

Some crimes can be reported to Oceanside Police Department over the telephone through our non-emergency line at (760) 435-4900. Examples of crimes that can be reported by telephone are:

  • Lost property
  • Theft
  • Vehicle Burglary
  • Vandalism
  • Harassing Phone Call/Electronic Communication
  • Missing Person/Runaway Juvenile

When calling to report a crime by telephone, please be ready to give information such as:

  • Date and time of crime. If it is happening now, call 9-1-1
  • Location of where the crime occurred in Oceanside.
  • Personal and contact information for identification and potential follow up.
  • If the crime involves a vehicle, please be prepared to provide vehicle information as well.

In Oceanside, please report criminal activity, fire, injury, or hazards to the Oceanside Police Department immediately by calling 9-1-1 for emergencies or crimes in progress, or (760) 435-4900 for non-emergencies.

You can file a police report in person at the Oceanside Police Department (3855 Mission Ave next to the Mission Branch Library). The Oceanside Police lobby hours are Monday – Friday from 8 AM – 5 PM. After hours, there is a phone in front of the station that can be utilized to contact our police dispatch center directly for assistance.

The Oceanside Police Dispatch Center is staffed 24 hours a day by trained public safety dispatchers. The dispatchers receive calls from the 9-1-1 and business lines. They assign the appropriate police officers to handle the calls in a prioritized manner based on the nature of the call.

Welcome to the Oceanside Police Zoom Reporting System. If this is an Emergency please call 911. Using this system allows you to submit a request for a Zoom appointment to complete a report. Please confirm the following to find out if Zoom Reporting is right for you:

  • This is not an Emergency
  • This incident occurred within the Oceanside city limits
  • You are NOT attempting to report any of the following crimes: Stolen Vehicle Identity Theft
  • This did not occur on State Route 78 or the I-5 Freeway.

If all of the above statements are true, you are ready to request a Zoom appointment to file your report. If any of the statements are false, please look at our Frequently Asked Questions section. Please Note:

  • Your Zoom appointment will be recorded
  • All cases filed via Zoom will be reviewed
  • Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.
  • Filing a false police report is a crime.

  • This is not an Emergency
  • This incident occurred within the Oceanside City limits.
  • There are No Known suspects.
  • This did not occur on State Route 78 or the I-5 Freeway.

If all of the above statements are true, you are ready to file your report online. Please make sure to turn off your pop-up blocking software before filing the report. If any of the statements are false, please look at our Frequently Asked Questions section.

Upon completion of this process you will:

  • See the words: "Your report has been submitted" showing that your report is complete.
  • Be given a case number.
  • Be able to print a copy of the report to keep for your records.
