Information about Federal Government Shutdown

The federal government shutdown is currently in effect, which may disrupt the operations across many federal agencies, including the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Oceanside Housing Authority (OHA) is not a federal agency. OHA is still operating and supporting the community through our programs.

What This Means for the CDBG/HOME Programs

The CDBG and HOME programs are federally funded and may be impacted depending on the length and scope of the shutdown. CDBG and HOME Grants funds are pre-appropriated programs and as such, we would still be available to access funding that has already been awarded.

Our Commitment

OHA is in regular communication with HUD and industry partners to stay updated on the federal budget process and shutdown impacts. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available and remain committed to transparency and collaboration throughout this uncertain time.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a federal grant program that that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. The City of Oceanside gives out grants to non-profit agencies and City departments to provide vital services to the community for the benefit of our low and moderate-income residents. Some examples of CDBG-funded activities in Oceanside include youth services, sidewalk improvements, housing rehabilitation, public facilities improvement, and fair housing services.

All projects funded must meet the requirements of the federal rules for the CDBG program and meet Oceanside’s identified priorities outlined within its Strategic Planning documents for the Program. These reports are found below under the Plans section.
