The City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Department is proud to host several special events for the community each year. Below is an overview of our annual events. Please check the Special Events Calendar for specific dates and times.

Egg Hunt
Children 3-11 join us every April for the Annual Egg Hunt, held at Mance Buchanon Park. Over 5,000 eggs are spread across the soccer fields, and golden eggs are hidden for an extra prize! This event also features entertainment by local dance groups and a performer (e.g. a magician).

Heritage Park Day
Join us to celebrate Heritage Park in this fun annual celebration! Heritage Park's original structures date from the turn of the century and feature the City’s first General Store, the Blacksmith Shop & Livery Stable, the Portola Inn, the old city jail, a doctor’s office, Libby School and The Blade Newspaper. 
At Heritage Park Day, children and their families can come enjoy carnival games, crafts, historical tours, and an old fashioned ice cream sundae!

Concerts in the Park
Enjoy live music and dancing with Oceanside Parks and Recreation! Oceanside residents of all ages can enjoy the music on the field and purchase food from local food trucks.

Movies in the Park & at the Pier
Oceanside Parks and Recreation hosts seven free movie nights throughout the year at several parks and at the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater.
February: Valentine's Movie at the Pier

October: Halloween Family Movie Night

Mermaid Pirate Pool Party
Kids will delight in this family-oriented pool party at William A. Wagner Aquatic Center! Kids have an opportunity to make themed crafts, go on a treasure hunt, and meet a real mermaid and pirate at the pool!

July 3rd Firework Celebration
On July 3rd in Oceanside we celebrate both Independence Day and the official incorporation of the City of Oceanside in 1888. Thousands of people flock to the SoCal Soccer Fields at El Corazon Park, where there is live music, food vendors, and fireworks!

Halloween Movie Night at Heritage Park
Immerse yourself in the eerie ambiance of Heritage Park as the historic park transforms into a spooky outdoor theater.

Halloween Spooktacular: Trunk or Treat
Celebrate Oceanside's car culture and Halloween in one day at this Spooktacular event! Local organizations, clubs, businesses, individuals, and families host decorated trunks in the parking lot at Mance Buchanon Park, while kids trick-or-treat at each trunk.
This event also features a craft booth, inflatables, and kids group games!

Holiday Tree Lighting
The Holiday Tree Lighting is hosted the first Thursday of December in conjunction with Mainstreet Oceanside. The night begins with community performances, live music, and holiday-themed crafts. Just before 6pm, Santa Claus rides the City's antique firetruck down Mission Avenue and joins the Oceanside mayor in counting down from 10 to light the holiday tree!
