This mile-long nature trail along Garrison Creek at El Corazon Park was opened May 2, 2016. To access the trailhead, enter the park at 3210 Oceanside Blvd. at the Agriservice and Moody’s street entrance, just east of El Camino Real. The trail will be open to the public Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and closed on Sundays. This slice of rural life in the heart of Oceanside offers the chance to soak in peace and tranquility. The trail flows through mule fat, coastal sage scrub, and riparian habitats along Garrison Creek. The area is home to many sensitive plants and wildlife that can be seen and heard along the trail. A second trail is also open to the public. The View Trail is located behind the El Corazon Senior Center and meanders along the former sand mining area of El Corazon. It offers beautiful ocean and sunset views. To access this trail, use the El Corazon Senior Center driveway off of Rancho Del Oro Drive.

Please note that the trails are only open to pedestrians--no motorized vehicles, bicycles, or horses.

Guajome Regional Park located in East Oceanside off of the 76. It is run by our friends at the County of San Diego Parks & Recreation. Some 4.5 miles of multi-use, non-motorized trails meander through diverse Southern California habitats such as woodlands, chaparral, wetlands and mixed grasslands. Two ponds attract a migratory birds and serve as home to a variety of fish that will test the skills of any angler. Guajome Regional Park also has two day-use areas with new playgrounds, a basketball court, restrooms and lots of green lawn space make this park ideal for picnicking – along with 33 tent and RV campsites, a caravan pavilion and a rustic cabin for those wishing to extend their stay overnight.

Buena Vista Lagoon is a freshwater lagoon adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. The lagoon covers 223 acres of wetland habitat and serves as a geographic border between Carlsbad and Oceanside. Buena Vista Lagoon is managed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The lagoon is home to the Buena Vista Audubon Society Nature Center, and is California's first Ecological Reserve. Two non-profit organizations are committed to the preservation and management of the lagoon: the Buena Vista Audubon Society and the Buena Vista Lagoon Foundation. The lagoon harbors at least 103 bird species, 18 mammals, and 14 amphibians and reptiles. Buena Vista Lagoon also serves as a valuable wetland habitat for migrating bird species during the fall months.
