Our Services
Oceanside Parks and Recreation serves our diverse community by providing sports activities that help develop skills, promote healthy lifestyles and create a safe recreational environment for the community. Our programs range from pee wee classes, to adult leagues and seasonal sports camps. Staff is committed to building a strong community in athletics. Classes, leagues and camps change seasonally so be sure to check out the latest Activity Guide on our Main Page.
Gym and Field Rentals
All applications for gym and field use must be submitted 30 days prior to the requested start date or sports event. Only potential exception is post-season/playoff play. Sports staff will determine availability for extended seasons prior to approval.
For any questions regarding gym or field rentals please call the Sports Office at (760) 435-5555. Submitted gym or field rental applications are dependent on availability and are NOT automatically approved.

Guide to Reading the Weekly Calendar
This weekly calendar shows all permitted organizations across all City sports parks and two gymnasiums. You can switch to daily and monthly views as well by selecting that option in the upper right hand corner directly above the calendar.

- To see more details about a reservation: hover your mouse over the reservation.
OUSD Joint Use Fields
The City of Oceanside has a Joint Use Agreement granting the City access to an additional seven fields for organizations/individuals looking to rent a field for sports use. Parks & Recreation staff will submit a request to the school district on behalf of the applicant, and, upon approval, the applicant will receive a City of Oceanside permit with City fees. The applicant will not pay OUSD fees. For a full list of fields available to reserve, including location info and calendars of availability, please click here.

Permits
How much does it cost to rent a field/facility? How much will my total permit cost
The cost per field depends on your classification.
You will be placed in a classification category upon review of a submitted application.
On top of the field or facility hourly rental fee, there are also a few extra fees:
- $30 application fee.
- If you are renting a gym, there will be $30/hour staffing fee (no matter your classification).
What is considered sufficient insurance?
Your insurance policy should be in the amount of $2 million each occurrence and $4 million general aggregate. The City of Oceanside needs to be listed as additional insured. You can find the information and sample here: Liability Insurance Requirements and Certificate Sample
I want to use your park/facility for a party or event for the day. Should I fill out an Athletic Gym and Field Use Application or a Special Events Application form?
If your event is related to sports or is held at a park, please fill out an Athletic Gym and Field Use Application form by scrolling up to "Gym and Field Rentals". If you are planning an event to be held at a gym, and does not relate to sports, please fill out a Special Events Application form.
Field Closures
How will I know if fields close down due to rain?
Sports staff updates the @Oceansiderec Instagram and Facebook pages on rainy days. Updates are posted no later than 3pm. Sports staff also sends emails to all permitted user groups when fields shut down due to rain.

Where can I play pickleball in the City of Oceanside?
Outdoor pickleball courts are located at Melba Bishop Park (5306 N River Rd, Oceanside, CA 92057). There are currently two permitted groups using the courts in the morning Monday through Friday. Please check the facility calendar for the current schedule.
Indoor courts are available at Melba Bishop Recreation Center (5306 N River Rd, Oceanside, CA 92057) and Junior Seau Community Center (300 The Strand N, Oceanside, CA 92054). Please refer to the "Gym Schedules" section at the top of this page to download the current calendar. The drop-in fee for our indoor courts is $3 per person ages 18-64. Participants under 18 (with school ID) and those over 65 (with ID) are free. We also offer a monthly pass for $20 for unlimited access to all of our open gym times (all sports - pickleball, basketball, volleyball, and ping pong) - purchase the pass here.
