Lanes merging sign on the side of a streetThe Transportation Engineering Section is responsible for the design, installation, and monitoring of traffic signals, signs, road markings, and other measures to ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic citywide.

We strive to optimize traffic flow on city streets, improve traffic management citywide, and increase public safety and awareness by applying state-of-the-art traffic and transportation engineering technology and methods. Through the implementation and maintenance of transportation tools and measures we are able to enhance roadway conditions, maximize traffic signal operations, and increase neighborhood and school zone safety.

Traffic ADT Map

The City of Oceanside’s Average Daily Traffic (ADT) Map is available as an online GIS application, providing general information on the average 24-hour vehicular counts for main arterial and collector streets within the City. The ADT values shown on the map are average daily counts intended for general reference purposes only. The vehicular count data will be updated when the City’s General Plan is updated, unless otherwise noted.

This map is a public resource designed to offer a broad overview of traffic volumes in Oceanside.
