Mobile businesses that use water for cleaning activities including power washing, window washing, pool maintenance, vehicle detailing and carpet, drape and furniture cleaning. Wash water from business activities is not allowed to enter the street or storm drain. BMPs for a mobile car washing business include ensuring all staff are trained, capture and properly dispose of any wash water generated during the cleaning process, and invest in equipment that conserves water use.

Additionally, as per business license requirements, all new mobile businesses must perform a stormwater inspection with Watershed Protection Program staff. After staff have received your business license application, the business owner will be contacted to schedule an inspection.

Report any water running in the street when it is not raining or someone dumping something in the storm drain or curb and gutter by calling the Urban Runoff Hotline at 760-435-4500.
