California Redemption Value (CRV)
Recycling centers help keep our communities clean by accepting California Redemption Value (CRV) recyclables such as aluminum, glass, and plastic in exchange for cash. Consumers pay CRV when they purchase beverages from a retailer, and receive CRV refunds when they redeem the containers at a recycling center. Most beverages packaged in aluminum, glass, plastic, and bi-metal containers are eligible for CRV (5 cents for each acceptable beverage container less than 24 ounces and 10 cents for each container 24 ounces or greater). Notable exceptions are milk, wine, and distilled spirits, which are not CRV redeemable. These items can all be placed into your blue recycle cart at home. Visit the Residential Page for more information.
