MLK Community Service Award - The Oceanside City Council annually honors a resident of Oceanside or Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award.  The award particularly emphasizes volunteer activity and service to the people and City of Oceanside by a person outside of a work setting, and over a long period of time.  This year's award was presented to Raye Clendening.  Raye has served this community since 1994 though her many partnerships with community organizations.  Read more about Ms. Clendening and the other inspiring award nominees HERE.

Arts and Culture - The Arts are alive in Oceanside!  With such a wide range of events/shows/exhibitions, there's something for every member of the family!  Don't miss the Oceanside Museum of Art's Vintage POP!  An (un) Valentine's Day on February 14.  Share a musical evening at the Star Theater's Into the Woods.  Artists, please see Call to Artists for Oceanside Days of Art in April.  Dive in and experience the best of Oceanside's arts and culture scene.

Drought Conditions Urge Water Conservation - With 2013 being the driest year in California recorded history and the expectation of a third consecutive dry year in 2014, Governor Brown has proclaimed a State of Emergency to focus Californians’ attention on the need to conserve water.  The Governor called for a voluntary statewide 20 percent reduction in water use.

Oceanside Public Library News - Peruse the dazzling line up of events, including the community-wide Big Read, the dynamic World Music Concert Series, and much, much more. 




Mission Avenue Improvement Project Update - Project work rolls forward!   Sidewalk, curb, gutter and asphalt have been removed on the north side of Mission from Ditmar to Coast Highway.  A portion of rough grading has been completed.  Work began relocating a water main on Mission Avenue.  Work will resume east of Ditmar during this period, preparing infiltration basins and planter areas to receive future landscaping this spring.  The second week of February, after the water main is in place, conduit for street lights and traffic signals will be installed west of Ditmar to Coast Highway.  After this task is finished, grading and forming work for curb, gutter and sidewalk placement west of Ditmar will take place.  PROJECT WEBPAGE

New Parking Available - New Parking Available - Additional business patron parking is available at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Parish, located on the southwest corner of Pier View and Freeman Street from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. 





World Music Concert Series -  Take a musical world journey at the Oceanside Public Library though the dynamic free World Music Concert Series.  Free concerts from February through April will be held at the Civic Center Library Community Rooms located at 330 North Coast Highway.  PERFORMERS                                     







Oceanside Parks and Recreation -  Spring and summer camps and classes are right around the corner.  Check the link for important dates to view the many choices and register.   Get out and play! 






Coast Highway Corridor Study Community Open House - Come learn more about the Coast Highway Corridor Study and share your thoughts on February 11 from 5-7 p.m. at South Oceanside Elementary School at 1806 S. Horne Street.  Directions






Call to Artists- Oceanside Days of Art - Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation and the Oceanside Days of Art Committee are extending a call to artists for participation in the 22nd annual Oceanside Days of Art event being held on Saturday April 26, and Sunday April 27, 2014, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. ODA is a juried fine art festival featuring over 100 local artists selling a variety of unique artwork including paintings, sculptures, stained glass, ceramics, fine jewelry, photography, and more. The festival also offers live performances, hands on art activities, and a delicious food court.  ODA is  located in and around the Civic Center plaza on the corner of Coast Highway and Pier View Way in downtown Oceanside.






San Luis Rey Transit Center Opens - The San Luis Rey Transit Center at the intersection of Vandegrift Blvd. and N. River Road serves BREEZE routes 303, 309, 311, 313, and 315.  All routes serving the new facility  have route and schedule changes.  Passengers may find detailed information at  The new 12-bay transit center features covered shelters, seating, restroom facilities and a communications/security building.





California Surf Museum Events - Celebrate the California Surf Museum's 28th birthday at the Annual Members' Party on February 23 from noon - 4:00 p.m.  Special guests include Eve Fletcher and Paul Strauch with entertainment by the Bamboo Room Philharmonic.  Not yet a member?  Prospective members can join for $10!  Save the date for the 7th Annual Gala May 17.
